- Caldecott Medal
Awarded each year to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
- Children's Choice Book Award
Announced by the Children's Book Council as part of Children's Book Week. The awards celebrate the books that kids and teens love in six categories: Kindergarten to 2nd Grade Book of the Year, 3rd to 4th Grade Book of the Year, 5th to 6th Grade Book of the Year, Teen Choice Book Award, Author of the Year, and Illustrator of the Year.
- Coretta Scott King Award
Given to an African American author and an African American illustrator for an outstandingly inspirational and educational contribution.
- Mark Twain Award
Selected annually by students in grades four through six.
- Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award
Presented annually to the author and illustrator of the picture book voted most popular by preschool children in Missouri's public libraries. Parents and other caregivers are encouraged to read aloud to children from a list of ten titles selected annually by a group of Missouri children's librarians.
- Newbery Medal
Awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
- Show Me Reader's Award
The Show Me Readers Award is to promote literature, literacy, and reading in Missouri elementary schools for grades one through three, and to promote recognition of authors and illustrators of books that are favorites of Missouri children in these grades.
