Internet Archive

The Internet Archive offers millions of works in multiple languages and formats. Many are rare and out-of-print and it is an especially useful source for academic work. In addition to books, you can also find popular music and videos.

Project Gutenberg

One of the oldest and largest digital libraries with over 33,000 out-of-copyright titles available for free download. Multiple formats are available, including Kindle. Check out the entire Project Gutenberg collection or browse a list of the 415 classic titles we've added to our catalog.

To find these eBooks in the library catalog:

  1. Click on the "catalog" link at the top of the page and enter "project gutenberg" as the search term. Make sure that you are searching "all libraries" and not just Eastside or Savannah.
  2. When you find one you are interested in, click on the link "click here to access downloadable ebook".
  3. You will be taken to the download page on the Project Gutenberg website where you can select what file type you would like to download.

Baen Free Library

Baen, a popular publisher of science fiction and fantasy books, has made a selection of their books available online for free download with new titles being added each month.

Take advantage of the new file sharing options on Kindle and Nook. Swap e-books with other readers for free using eBookFling.

LibriVox

LibriVox is a collection of free audiobooks from the public domain. Volunteers record themselves reading and post it back online. The goal of the site is to "make all public domain books available as free audio books".
